Inside The JOBS Act: Equity Crowdfunding
Tanya Prive published an indepth article at Forbes about the upcoming JOBS Act. In short, the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act would allow the general public to invest in a company in exchange for equity. Currently this is only possibly for accredited investors or inviduals with a net worth over one million US dollars. This piece of legislation may be of interest to any small business who are looking to raise money. With the popularity of Kickstarter and other crowdfunding services, this legislation seems to be a welcome change. However, there are also concerns that the passing of the JOBS act may lead to individual investors taking on risk without an adequate understanding of the dangers involved.
